3dsImport

I have been trying to use the 3dsImport script to import a model that was originally created in AutoDesk 3dsMax 2009. AutoDesk's native file type now uses the extension .max rather than .3ds although it has import and export tools for a variety of file types including .3ds. I have also tried to convert the original model and .3ds exported versions, using both MilkShape 1.8.3 and 3dGameStudio 1.7.2 model editor. None of these .3ds exports seem to open in breve. What constraints or compatibility issues am I dealing with here?
