Breve screensaver not displayed

I'm running Windows Vista and I previously had breve running without problem.

Then it stopped working (possibly due to my attempts to look under the hood).

I have tried deleting the breve folder, the breve.scr file and glut32.dll (after changing the currently running screensaver to another) and reinstalling. However, this does not solve the problem.

The symptoms are as follows:

1) When breve is selected as a screen saver in vista's screen saver dialogue the computer image used to give a minuture preview of the currently selected screen saver remains black.
2) When the monitor is left running breve does not take control of the monitor. However in task manager under the processes tab I find an entry "breve.scr" appears (taking up ~50% of processor cycles). This process does not disapear when I move the mouse or give keyboard input (I have to stop it using the end process button).
3) When preview is selected in the screen saver dialogue the "settings" and "preview" buttons are greyed out.
4) When I open the screen saver dialogue "breve.scr" appears in the processes tab too but it disapears when the dialogue is closed (which by comparison with other screen savers seems to be correct behaviour).
5) In the screen saver dialogue if I press the "settings" button the breve settings dialogue appears and after exiting this the buttons remain active (also apparently correct behaviour).
6) I have tried resetting the evolution and this does not solve the problem.
